COTS Walk and Tower of Tuna

This Sunday, we have two important opportunities for service to the greater community.

The first is the annual COTS Walk in Burlington. The Committee on Temporary Shelter is Vermont’s largest provider of services for those who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or marginally housed. The focus at COTS is to find solutions to end homelessness, not only to provide much needed shelter. This year, the COTS Walk theme is Every Story Deserves a Home, which honors the unique life experiences of each person who comes to COTS.

The United Church of Underhill is putting together a team of walkers. So far we have only a few, but it’s not too late to sign up to walk or to donate to those who are walking. Visit our team’s page to walk or donate. You may also email missions@ucu.church if you’d like more information or want to be sure you’ve signed up correctly.

Secondly, this coming Sunday will be our final week to build our “Tower of Tuna” for our local ecumenical food shelf. Each year around this time, UCU (as the tuna church), replenishes the Food Shelf’s stock of tuna for future distributions. Our Middle Schoolers have been leading the effort to raise awareness. Let’s build the tallest tuna tower ever! Our students will be sure to report how many cans make it into the tower.

As always, thank you for your generosity of time and resources. These seemingly small efforts make a great impact to body, mind, and spirit.

Pastor Jen
