Seeking Justice

Following up on last week’s sermon, I’m circulating some opportunities for engagement that have been coming across my desk. There are surely others.

One suggestion is simply to look for churches who are near to places of protest, upset, or need and send notes of support. You can use either the UCC or UMC church finder tools to do this. And of course, there are churches of other denominations who would welcome such support as well.

Thurs. Feb. 6 - Community Resilience Potluck Party in Burlington. Organized by Vermont Interfaith Action. This event will bring neighbors together for an evening of food, connection, and skill-building. Location is disclosed after registering.

Sat. Feb. 7 - Nonviolent resistance training. This event will be organized by the New England UMC in concert with Faith in Action. It will be in person at Aldersgate UMC in Chelmsford, MA, and via webinar.

Wed. Saturday 25 - Day of public witness for immigrant justice in Washington DC. This event is organized by the Northeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. It includes a peaceful procession, time of public witness, and congressional visits. Please attend the nonviolent resistance training if you’re interested in going to Washington. Some travel stipends are available.
