Advent & Christmas 2025
Have you ever noticed that the story of Jesus begins, ends, and centers around food? We likely recall the feeding of the thousands and the breaking of bread during the last supper, but his birth placed him in a feeding trough in a town whose name means “House of Bread.” This rich symbolism—often lost in our familiarity—makes it clear: God in Jesus desires to satisfy our hunger.
This Advent, using materials from Illustrated Ministry, we will explore our many hungers: the basic desire for nourishment as well as our longings for peace, freedom, and meaning. We’ll look anew at the stories of Jesus’s birth and ministry, recognizing that hope, peace, joy and love spring “From the Manger.”
As always, Advent offers the opportunity to go deeper in faith, worship, and service. An overview of events is included below. It is also a wonderful time to invite friends, family, and neighbors to come in for a closer look. As we watch and wait once more, may we do so bound together in hope that all who hunger—whether for food or for righteousness—will be satisfied.
