Mortal Body, Immortal Soul
This week, we begin a brief worship series entitled, “Mortal Body, Immortal Soul,” in which we will contemplate the sacredness of mortality. While death is—for many good reasons—not an easy subject to broach, it is something we all will face. It is something that many of us have already faced, as we accompanied loved ones through illness, old age, or even a tragic death. It is also something that we are not always well prepared to face.
Over the next two weeks, we will, with great care, take time to consider some of the questions that arise when we contemplate our own mortality. We’ll also think about how we might support others through the holy and difficult moments that surround the end of life. And, on October 26, we’ll have the opportunity to put down on paper some of the reflections we’ve come away with.
Please see below for the full announcement on the Putting Your House in Order workshop, which is designed to help us think through and clarify what is most important should time draw short. If you are interested in this free workshop, kindly register by October 17 so that materials can be adequately prepared.

Putting Your House in Order - Oct. 26 @ 12:00 pm. On Sun., Oct. 26, we will be joined by Rev. David Abbott of the Methodist Foundation of New England. In addition to preaching, he will offer a 90-minute workshop entitled, “Putting Your House in Order.” This step-by-step program is designed to take the stress out of estate planning by centering what is most important to you. Participants will explore the significance of having a will, sharing one’s abundance, and avoiding the pitfalls of not planning ahead. When you attend the workshop, you will receive a binder where you can record your thoughts, wishes, important people, and generosity plans. Whether you’ve already done estate planning, or haven’t given it a thought, this workshop will help us reflect on the legacy we want to leave behind—granting peace of mind to self and loved ones. In order to ensure we have enough materials, please register by October 17 by for this workshop. Please register by Oct. 17.
