Pastoral transition notes and update

A few weeks ago, we had a Sunday visit from Rev. Dr. Lynn Bujnak (pronounced BOON-yak), Conference Minister for the Vermont Conference UCC. After church that day (Feb. 22), she explained the overall process for receiving a UCC minister, both an interim minister in the short-term, and eventually a settled pastor. She has also been doing some follow-up coordination with our Nominating committee, from whom you will hear soon on next steps.

One of the things she suggested in that presentation was for us (pastor and congregation) to take time over these next few months to be in touch. She encouraged us to meet one-on-one or in small groups to share with each other the blessings, concerns, and meaning that have arisen over our time together.

To make a bit more room for that, I will be extending my office hours by one hour each week, meaning that I will be at the Jericho Ale and Bean from 11 am - 1 pm each Thursday (I’ll let you know of any exceptions) at least for the months of March, April, and May. Drop-ins are great, but if you know you’ll be coming by, I encourage you to let me know ahead of time, just in case someone else has already planned to come.

I’m also available at other times by appointment, and I welcome phone calls and emails as well. Even if there isn’t some burning matter to communicate, it’s an opportunity to spend some time together, share what’s going on in life, and even offer a prayer as we face the transition together.

Whether in church, at office hours, or even in passing at the grocery store, I look forward to and cherish our coming encounters: each a gift as we prepare for this change.

With gratitude,

Pastor Jen
