Warning to special meeting on June 14

This week, I'm sharing this spot with the church Trustees who are warning a special meeting of the United Church of Underhill after church on Sunday, June 14. This meeting will be to discuss and vote on a single motion concerning management of the church's investment accounts. More information will be provided in worship this coming Sunday, and a Zoom drop-in session for discussion and questions will be held on Wednesday, June 3 at 7:00 pm via the church Zoom. The purpose of the motion is to empower the trustees to make investment decisions on behalf of the church. Below is a bit more background from the trustees, as well as the meeting warning. An official, signed warning will be posted by Sunday, giving the required two weeks notice for calling special church meetings.

At the 2015 annual meeting the church approved a motion to invest several memorial donations in the S/P 500 index fund. As good stewards of these funds, the Trustees would like to have the option to invest these funds in a way that aligns with socially responsible investment principles outlined by the United Methodist Church. The United Methodist Church Foundation offers professionally managed investment options tailored to our specific goals.
